EASTER
(30th March 2018)

Also called Resurrection Day and Pascha, is a Christian holiday celebrating Jesus Christ returning from the dead. Christians believe that it is the holiest day in the year. Some people who are not Christians celebrate it as a cultural holiday.

The word "Easter" is derived from Eastra, the name of the ancient German Goddess of Spring.[1] Her festival occurred at the vernal equinox. The French word for Easter, Pâcques, comes from the Greek word for Passover, which is the Jewish holiday celebrated at about the same time of the year.

NAWRUZ
(20th-21st March 2018)

Nowruz, Nawruz or Navroz, is the Persian and Baha'i New Year and the traditional festival marking the beginning of spring.

Haft-Seen is roughly translated to seven S's, for the seven symbolic items starting with the letter S displayed to mark the occasion:
1. Sabzeh - a wheat plant as a symbol of greenery, nature and exhilaration. Some say it symbolises wealth and love too.
2. Samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ symbolising power and bravery
3. Senjed - dried Persian olives symbolising wisdom and regenercy
4. Seer - garlic to symbolise stimulation and contentment
5. Seeb/Sib - an apple to symbolise health
6. Somaq - sumac berries to symbolise patience and tolerance
7. Serkeh - vinegar symbolises disinfection or surrender

The table will also include a coin, to represent wealth, a mirror to symbolise light, candles for children and family, and a copy of the Qu'ran.

To all our riders and friends, Nawruz Mubarak from our family to yours.
